His vision was fading, but he could see black, a vague outline as he coughed, choking on his own breath, a tired smile lifting his lips upwards as he managed somehow to pull his belt off every Pokeball he had was there as he laid it down. “Dun… Dunno how long… It’ll be… B-but see them rest at Lavender Town…” he whispered. His blood felt like it was burning him, or maybe that was the cold. He couldn’t tell anymore. “G-Gold and Father are inside… D-don’t go in… U-under any ccircumstance.. Burn the gym down…” he mumbled.
Proton felt his own breath hitch when he heard the other speak. Yes, this was what he was hoping for; a response. Sadly, this response foretold an impending doom. Silver wasn’t going to make it, that much was obvious. But, dare he give up on Silver just yet? No, that wasn’t something he’d do.
With tears in his eyes, the Executive held the younger close to him after having scooped him up from off the ground, murmuring something along the lines of, “If you don’t make it , I swear I will do what you ask. But, please, don’t give up-.”
His last sentence was choked out between sobs, seeing as how he couldn’t help it now. Because, deep down, he knew Silver was going to die.
That tore at Silver’s heart even as argent eyes had started to lose their fire, his smile fell. Why’d it have to be Proton…? A ragged breath drew from his lips as he searched, he tried to focus. Proton, the Executive, his friend. Best friend even, so many stunts they’d pulled together. One final gift along with his requests. He had to, even as he could feel himself slipping further and further away.
“Pro…Ton…” he managed to get out. “Team Rocket… Yours now… Nobody else could… lead them.” he choked out, relaxing in that grip of the only one he still trusted before his body would finally fall slack, his chest slowly stopped moving.
A frustrated hiss escaped the male as he felt the other suddenly go limp in his arms. His initial reaction to this was to bury his face in the other’s hair and allow himself to cry silently. He wasn’t a man to cry. But, all of his walls had been broken down by the one in his arms. The kid managed to make him open his heart, and made it so he actually showed a side of himself he usually kept under wraps.
In a sense, the Executive loved the teen like he was his own brother from another mother. Now…. The teen was dead, and the Executive felt alone again, regardless of the fact that he had other people to posisbly befriend. Proton didn’t want to reach out to anyone else, he wanted the only person he considered family back. He wanted Silver.
So, with a deep breath, the Executive lay the other down, brushing some loose strands of hair out of their face whilst murmuring, “I love you little man… And… And, I’ll lead them for you. Because, hell, I’m pretty sure you’d be proud to see what I could do…”
Headcanon – Death and Pain

Silver is no stranger to pain… The one and only time he’s tried to reach out, to help somebody a selfless act… His father had him killed. He’d been forced to watch as Gold was killed in front of him… Watched as he couldn’t do anything as Pokémon were viciously slaughtered.
He’d screamed out, begged Giovanni to stop, but then all Silver had known was pure horror as he watched Mewtwo turn on his father and rip him apart as well. Silver had crawled to Gold’s side, trying to perform CPR… But he felt as if he was being torn apart.
Only to find he was bleeding profusely from his chest, blood spewing down his legs and arms. Weakness is not allowed here, you useless child.
He dies over and over again in a very agonizing way, though he never remembers each death he’s forced to suffer through. As such… He has a very high pain tolerance, but… He’s terrified of death or of others dying.
